CHARACTER DEBATE: Sha Aznable (0079 vs 0093)

In a recent discussion with a few friends and fans of Gundam, I came upon the debate as to, if placed into a fight against one another, which version of Sha Aznable is truly better--the younger one, where his youth and skill are fierce and slightly unfocused in 0079; or the older one, where his age and experience have simultaneously focused his talents and driven his mind to such focus that one could argue he has lost some of the ability of his youth?

The difficulty of this debate is traditional in terms of humanity: Which is more important, skill or experience? The problem becomes even more confounding when one considers the classical understanding that, indeed, a soldier builds upon his past experience and thus expands his talents, yet in the case of Sha Aznable, in being 'more than just a soldier,' this may or may not apply to his case. In 0079, his talents in a mobile suit are unmatched, and as a commander, his name has already spread throughout the Federation of Zeon even at an extremely young age. By the time that 0093 comes to pass, he is respected by thousands (perhaps millions) of people for his political brilliance, abilities to lead both in combat and national directions, and yes, still fight in mobile suit battles.

Yet each has his weaknesses--the 0079-based, youthful Aznable is intelligent but naive; the 0093-based, experienced Aznable is both intelligent and emotional, creating a stronger personality, but also obsessed with certain goals. So in this, I ask you, as Gundam fans--given these strengths and weaknesses, who is truly a stronger commander in the world?

I would say his newer well-trained self would dominate.
It's like a flame war between a troll and a mod.
They can both be the same person; start as a troll and become a mod.

That's a good point, sir, but if I may ask: How does the overwhelming focus of the 0093-Sha turn him into a less-skilled person for combat?--What I mean to point-out is that, as Sha Aznable rebuilds the entire area around Earth into the Principality of Zeon, his mind becomes of such great focus upon "major goals" that to turn his Self toward a different target (an enemy base, a mobile suit, a hot chick at a bar in Monaco, etc.) would be harder than when he was a young man filled with ambition and anger.

Usually, the idea is that being "unfocused" is a bad thing. But 0079-Sha was skilful in a mobile suit, calm in commanding his troops, and unhindered by any desire for world domination or beliefs that he alone could (or should) make a difference in the world. When 0093-Sha developed into a man with a "purpose" in life, suddenly everything had to be for a greater goal; even if his mind became strong with this purpose and he could control his feelings and emotions into a single attack, would not even a half-second's time of delay result in his own death at the hands of 0079-Sha...a man whose only salvation in life was to be "the best" and dominate the world of mobile suit combat?

Ultimately, the differences might be equated by simply saying:
1) 0079-Sha was more-focused and without the haunting memories of a war-filled past.
2) 0093-Sha was more-practiced as a pilot and possessed stronger Newtype abilities.
Thus, the most dramatic thing (in an animé production) would be that the two men would shoot each other at the same time, both defeated at the hands of what could later be seen as "the better man" by a man named Sha Aznable who never would accept defeat as an inevitability of life.

0079 Sha wins. I'm sorry but Sha from 0079 wouldn't be seen getting his butt whomped by Amuro when he's riding a horse trying to get his mac on with underaged-blue-haired girls . He'd be playing the world like a game of chess, setting up the world forces just to watch them fall like a bunch of dominoes. If Sha in 0079 would have gotten his act together and focused more on taking over Zeon than killing the Zabi family, the world of U.C. would be a lot different. ;D They've got the money and the power and all the feddies have is Sha's little sister.

Well, actually it's シャア　アズナブル in Japanese ... if you're gonna get technical about Sha.

In kanji (シャア　アズナブル).. it is... but do you know what romaji means?... it is the application of latin/english alphabet in writing japanese language. i just write it in romaji which means "Shā Azunaburu". not anyone knows how to read kanji... dont they. this was just a little tip for ya. Im an Otaku so i do know about this things.
