There are few mobile suits in the multitude of Gundam universes which can match the unification of altogether coolness, technologically stimulating design, and story-advancing purpose possessed by the Tallgeese. Introduced in Gundam W as a prototype unit for the story's current era of humanoid military combat units, the white-painted mobile suit represented an interesting commentary within its existence in this fictional world--that is, that mobile suits are capable of reaching far beyond what the viewer is accustomed to seeing on-screen in Gundam serieses. But perhaps more-important to consider, as intelligent Gundam fans, is that the Tallgeese represents something which is ever-so-seldomly pressed-forward in Gundam serieses as a truth of combat--that is, that a Gundam-type mobile suit is not necessarily the ultimate-type of mobile suit.

Disagree?--I would not blame you. After all, the past fifteen years of Gundam serieses have propagated the belief that Gundams are somehow superior to whatever else could possibly exist within these worlds-of-conflict. To believe this, one could need to forget that there could be brilliant scientists working to form stronger metal alloys; ignore the idea that engineers could be developing complex mechanical builds which put older Gundam-types to shame; perhaps most disgracefully of all, fans would also have to succumb to the cliché and traditional ideals of science fiction (being at-least as old as the early days of Isaac Asimov's public proposals) and wholeheartedly bias themselves toward the thought that modernity equals superiority.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Tallgeese puts all of these foolish stereotypes of Gundam series into the garbage where they rightfully belong. G Gundam, Gundam X, Gundam SEED, and Gundam 00, in this sense, have fallen into the same pitfall of post-Universal Century designers and pushed-forward the idea that, no matter what, a Gundam-type unit is the best. Well, whether against Leo-types or Gundam-types, the Tallgeese does everything that a mobile suit is supposed to do, pushing a pilot to be a real man instead of someone reliant upon his machine, and for this, the Tallgeese is the ultimate mobile suit.
